The Cedar Valley Home Builders Association (HBA) awards two to four scholarships a year with a total of $2,000 paid out annually.
In the past, scholarships have been awarded to students entering Hawkeye Community College with an emphasis on construction sustainability classes. We are pleased that many of our awardees stay in Waterloo—Cedar Falls and surrounding areas for permanent employment.
Recipients each receiving $1,000 scholarships for 2020 were Erin Haugen, a senior at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, with a major in construction management; and Karson DeGroote, a freshman at Iowa State University in Ames, majoring in interior design. She attended Aplington-Parkersburg High School.
Funds raised by the Parade of Homes go towards the scholarship program.
